The second round of the British Championships is being held at the Long Mynd from 25th to 28th June 2008
RESULTS WILL BE AVAILABLE HERE
Here in darkest Shropshire the internet link is not good, but we'll try to bring you the results as soon as they are available.
Day 1: Day cancelled due to high winds and rain
The day was cancelled at the 9am briefing due to a forecast of strong winds and showers.
The forecast for the following three days is not too good with Friday looking the best bet for a task at the moment.
Day 2: Day cancelled due to high winds and rain
As on the first day, the day was cancelled at the 9am briefing due to a forecast of strong winds and showers.
Day 3: Task stopped and then cancelled for safety reasons
The forecast was for lighter winds with showers and it was decided to go to the Long Mynd site and set a short, early task.
A 31.5k task was set via one turnpoint at the end of the ridge to the south. The window was opened at 11:20 for a groundstart take-off, but it quickly became clear that the air close to the ridge to the South was very turbulent and a number of pilots had big collapses. The task was stopped and so cancelled as no pilot had made goal.
A rebrief was scheduled for 2pm but it was decided to cancel the day after further scrutiny of the weather forecasts.
Day 4: Day cancelled due to strong winds
We went to the Long Mynd site, but the wind was too strong and with the forecast not looking promising the daya was cancelled.
